This wall inserts a few paintings that actually preceded the Minimal works on the east wall, leading to them. They're called Deviance series,
deriving their title from the fact that the edges of the shapes either parallel or deviate from the support edge. There really wasn't room for these
in the sequence so I put them on this wall and on the north wall, either side of the self-portrait Me Then. The seqencing continues into the word paintings I evolved into from the Minimal and then this whole wall drops the sequence theme becoming a hodge-podge of different times meandering around from 1975 to 87. The sequence picks up again on the west wall.

That painting over there on the right, in the dark,... i wanted to show it in more detail ... as i've said, all these paintings
are viewable in more detail on the main site categories, in this case the collaboration one. I also insert below a shot of the
maquette which was solicited by the City of Atlanta in one of their public sculpture projects. It was to be 22' high,
extending from one floor of a recreation center through to another.

The sculpture Hans Bhalla Ritual is a response to the 1977 death of a friend, the Chair of the Art Dept. at
Spelman College. I went to Decatur Cemetery when I heard of his death and collected the debris that
happened to be at the entry gate. Three days later i repeated this, and three days later again, bagged
the stuff up in this temporary form which helped me come to terms with my feelings.
